I recently posted a pattern for a simple granny square, and this baby blanket starts with that exact pattern and continues on, as if it were one large granny square.
Here is the pattern:
Supplies
- 3 Skeins Vanna’s Choice® in White
- 2 Skeins Vanna’s Choice® in Terracotta
- 2 Skeins Vanna’s Choice® in Dusty Green
- Size F Crochet Hook
Directions
Dusty Green
Ch 6, sl st to first ch to form loop.
Row 1: Ch 3 (this acts as your first dc), 2 dc in loop, ch 2, 3 dc in loop, ch 2, 3 dc in loop, ch 2, 3 dc in loop, ch 2, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 2: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 3: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 4: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Change to White
Row 5: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 6: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Change to Terracotta
Row 7: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 8: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 1)x7, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 9: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 1)x8, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 10: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 1)x9, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Change to White
Row 11: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 1)x10, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Row 12: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 1)x11, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join.
Continue following the pattern, adding one double crochet + one chain on each side for each row, until the next to the last row:
Rows 13-16 – Green
Rows 17-18 – White
Rows 19-22 – Terracotta
Rows 23-24 – White
Rows 25-28 – Green
Rows 29-30 – White
Row 31: Ch 3 and turn, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc in corner, ch 2, dc the entire edge until you reach the next corner, rep from * all the way around, sl st to ch 3 to join. tie off.
