This is one of my favorite salads, as a matter of fact, when I go to a new German restaurant, I always have to try their cucumber salad – that and their hot potato salad.
The dressing combines smooth sour cream with tangy lemon juice and vinegar, and fresh dill. I like onions in mine, but they are optional. Some people prefer to forego the tomatoes and only serve cucumbers, which is also fine if you like.
German Cucumber Salad
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 large cucumbers
- 1 small tomato
- 1 small yellow onion
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp dill
- Salt & pepper to taste
Steps
- Thinly slice all of the vegetables and place in a large bowl.
- Add the sour cream to medium bowl.
- Stir the vinegar, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper in with the sour cream.
- Add the sour cream mixture to the vegetables and mix well.
- Serve and top with a sprinkle of dill.
