With children’s Halloween party food you can indulge your inner child and crank up the scare factor. Make scary ice cubes for the punch by freezing gummy worms into ice cubes. Take regular apples and cut a hole in the apple that is deep enough for you to stick a gummy worm into.
For something more substantial make hard boiled eggs and cut them into halves after peeling. Take the yolks out and then fill the hole with whipped cream cheese. Then press olives with pimentos, pimento side up, into the cream cheese and voila! You have an eyeball. Use spider webs and velvet for tablecloths, candles in wine bottles and so on to create the effect of a dining room in a haunted mansion. Pumpkin Soup Recipe
- 1 small finely chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 16 ounces of fresh or canned pure pumpkin
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Heat the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, 3 minutes or until soft.
- Stir in all other ingredients and cook, stirring occasionally, 3 minutes or until soup simmers.
- Ladle into bowls and top with sour cream and garnish as desired.
You can store the leftover soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
