I’m starting to have quite an addiction to monthly beauty subscriptions. I started with Ipsy. Then I added Sephora Play. Now I have BoxyCharm too. Now let me preface by saying, yes, BoxyCharm is twice the price of Ipsy and Sephora Play weighing in at $21 per month while the others are $10; however, it blows the other subscription boxes out of the water. BoxyCharm provides 4 to 5 full size products every month and I just found out that September will offer 6 full size products – EEEK! The value of my box this month was $129! *WOW face*
The first product I was drawn to was the Aloette Face Paint Lip and Cheek Tints ($35) in the shade Blooming Berry – a variant item as not all subscribers received this item. At first I was a little disappointed I didn’t receive the shade Tuscan Sunset: however, after giving Blooming Berry I try I really like it. I’ve only tried it as a lip stain but it is quite moisturizing and has a long wear to it. I found it a bit hard to apply with my finger so next time I’ll try a thin brush for application. I have quite fair skin so I don’t see this working too well for a cheek tint but I’m really enjoying it for my pucker and pout.
Next up is the wow item in the box – the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Volume II ($36). This eight shade palette ranges in shades from a white shimmer to a dark steel blue. I have to admit this wouldn’t be a palette I’m drawn to for purchase. Some of the shades are too dark for my liking, but I love Tarte cosmetics and I’m really excited about the lighter shades in the palette – Pearl (white shimmer), Conch (off white), Sunset (yellow gold), Marina (caramel). I think these ones will do a nice job of bringing out the blue in my eyes.
I’m always a sucker for a nail polish and this month I scored a beautiful tomato red with the Adesse Nail Polish in Suzannemi ($18) – another variant item. This gel effect nail polish claims to be a revolutionary long-wearing polish that give the “plump” look of a gel manicure. The polish is infused with organic bamboo extract, argan and shea oils to soothe and rejuvenate your nails. Gel Effect polish is 5 Free, Cruelty Free, Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, Petrochemical Free, GMO Free, Triclosan Free, Vegan and Made in New York.
Next up a beautiful brush set – I can never have too many brushes! Royal & Langnickel Moda Pro Brush Set was included in every box and values at ($26). The top Pointed Brush (BMX-130) is perfect for applying blush or powder with precision. The Chisel Brush (BMX-250) works for highlighting or contouring – I really needed one of these! The Crease Brush (BMX-430) is designed to help define and blend the crease or to buff over your entire lid. I love a good blending brush for my shadow palettes. The brushes feel densely packed and of good quality – one of my favorite finds in the box!
Finally, I received a beautiful pair of PUR Pro Eyelashes in Bombshell ($14). All subscribers received one of two different eyelash sets. I have to admit the last time I wore fake lashes was about 10 years ago. I purchases some lash glue (from House of Lashes) to go with these babies and the next date night out with my husband I plan to give them a try! These lashes are soft, cruelty-free and made from synthetic lashes.
This box was by far my favorite monthly beauty box I have EVER received. The total value is $129! It truly feels like I’m getting such a good deal on high I end products I would be a fool not to keep my BoxyCharm subscription. If you are on the fence about BoxyCharm, now is the time to give it a try if you can – they have a waitlist quite often, but when they open it up for new subscribers, give them a whirl and prepare to be impressed.
