Singer and songwriter Colin Blunstone was born on June 24, 1945, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. In the 1960’s, Blunstone rose to fame as the lead singer for The Zombies, and has also had a successful solo career, making music for over 50 years now. The band formed in 1962 in St. Albans, England, with Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent as lead vocalists, and they wrote some of the most timeless songs of the century. The Zombies had four singles top the charts during the ’60s: “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” “She’s Coming Home,” and “Time of the Season.”
In a recent interview with Buzz Magazine, Blunstone commented on the timelessness of The Zombies music, particularly “She’s Not There,” saying “It’s a timeless classic. It sounds as fresh and as relevant now as it did when it was first recorded. There’s a lot more going on, musically, than people realise. I’m always interested if I play that with another band and they rarely… they never get it right. It’s subtle and sophisticated and when you think Rod Argent was 18 when he wrote that – it’s a little masterpiece.”
