Cinnamon Spiced Apple Cider

Still basking in the glow of Christmas tree lights, we’re enjoying a cozy weekend at home with our favorite cinnamon spiced apple cider. It’s a simple stovetop hot apple cider recipe.


This recipe makes about six servings.

  • 8 cups apple cider or apple juice
  • 1/8 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • Whipped cream (optional)


Heat the cider, brown sugar, spices, and orange slices in a saucepan on medium to high heat to bring to a low boil for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat, keep warm.

Strain into individual mugs.

Garnish with cinnamon sticks and whipped cream if desired.
