Amigurumi Snowman

I had some leftover white, pink, and grey skeins of yarn from the baby blanket that I last posted, and I liked the color combination so much that I made this amigurumi snowman & scarf with the yarn.

Here is the snowman crochet pattern.

Supplies

  • Vanna’s Choice® White

Directions for the Snowman

White

Create a magic circle.

Row 1: Work 6 sc into the magic circle, sl st to join. (6)

Row 2: Ch 1, *crochet 1 sc in next stitch, followed by 2 sc in next stitch.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (9)

Row 3: Ch 1, *crochet 1 sc in next stitch, followed by 2 sc in next stitch.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (13)

Row 4: Ch 1, *crochet 1 sc in next stitch, followed by 2 sc in next stitch.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (19)

Row 5: Ch 1, *crochet 2 sc in next stitch, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (26)

Row 6: Ch 1, *crochet 2 sc in next stitch, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (35)

Row 7: Ch 1, *crochet 2 sc in next stitch, followed by 1 sc in next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (44)

Row 8: Ch 1, *crochet 2 sc in next stitch, followed by 1 sc in next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (53)

Rows 9-18: Ch 1, work 1 sc in each stitch around, sl st to join. (53)

Row 19: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (44)

Row 20: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (35)

Row 21: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (26)

Row 22: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (19)

Rows 26-30: Ch 1, work 1 sc in each stitch around, sl st to join. (43)

Row 31: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (34)

Row 32: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (26)

Row 33: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (17)

At this point, stuff the snowman with Fiber Fill.

Row 34: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (11)

Row 35: Ch 1, *sc2tog next 2 stitches, followed by 1 sc in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * around, sl st to join. (7)

Row 36: Ch 1, sc7tog.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

Time to embroider some embellishments on our snowman

Next, use an embroidery needle and embroidery thread to sew on eyes, nose, and a mouth to your liking.

I sewed on the eyes, nose, and mouth with embroidery thread.

For the buttons, I used the Rose Shocking pink yarn and crochet hook to make some starbursts.  Feel free to experiment with any other embellishments for the buttons, as well as the face: real buttons, beads, yarn, and embroidery can all be fun options.

After adding embellishments, I crocheted a small scarf for the snowman using the following pattern:

Row 1: ch 90.

Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc 90.

Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc 90.

Row 6: ch 1, turn, sc 90. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Tie the scarf around the neck and you’re done!

Abbreviations:

  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc2tog – decrease by using a single crochet to join 2 stitches together
